SGS™ Brand Broccoli Seed Extract - a Nutritional Ingredient Containing 13% Glucoraphanin
Glucoraphanin is one of the key nutrients in broccoli that make it known as a superfood. However, the amount of glucoraphanin varies tremendously from one broccoli plant to another with no outward sign telling the consumer how much glucoraphanin is in the broccoli they buy. In addition, it was discovered that broccoli sprouts and seeds contain much higher concentrations of glucoraphanin. This creates a great opportunity for food, beverage and supplement manufacturers to develop products using broccoli extracts that contain high and consistent levels of glucoraphanin. SGS™ contains glucoraphanin extracted from broccoli seeds using a natural, hot water process. Currently, SGS contains the highest level of glucoraphanin of any broccoli extract on the market.
Since 2000, Brassica Protection Products, the manufacturers of SGS™, has been working in collaboration with researchers at Johns Hopkins and other renowned institutions to grow the science surrounding glucoraphanin and sulforaphane and to better define their many health benefits. Ironically, even though the science is mounting in favor of broccoli, consumption has remained fairly stagnant over the years. This further supports the need for food, beverage and supplement manufacturers to develop products containing SGS™ brand glucoraphanin.
